The Feder String Competition inspires and nurtures D.C. area youth in grades 6 through 12 who study violin, viola, cello, and double bass. Each year, 80 students compete for 30 awards and scholarships. Held each spring, WPAS awards cash prizes toward private lessons, scholarships for summer study programs, and tickets for top winners and their family members to attend a WPAS concert. Winners of the competition are also given special performance opportunities such as on the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage and The Shakespeare Theatre Company’s Happenings at the Harman series. If you are interested in finding out more about The Joseph and Goldie Feder Memorial String Competition, please contact Megan Merchant at 202-533-1894 or mmerchant@wpas.org. |
